Progression to Nowhere

Contributed by norm on Friday, 21st November 2003 @ 05:01:50 PM in AEST
Topic: dedicatedpoems

When I was young, it was the thing,
To squeeze the girls and make them sing,
Events progressed when I grew older,
Beside the squeeze, I did get bolder.

I used to think the girls were shy,
The one that blushed it seemed, was I.
The tricks and games they played with glee,
They mostly played those games on me.

As life went on, I got to twenty,
The girls I dated, were some and plenty,
We drank and danced, and now and then,
Hands we held, down at the glen.

At thirty, life was really great,
Fifty plus just did not sate,
The appetite I had for girls,
The jump and prance, the spins and whirls.

At forty plus, my dates slowed down,
My muscles ached, my face did frown,
The elephant I had surely seen,
I had to stop my life careen.

Sit by my side, we'll speak of books,
We'll talk of knights and kings and rooks,
My aches and pains might be the theme,
of our conversation stream.

As you can see, you pay a price,
Not only double but sometimes thrice,
So play your games but take it easy,
This time of life, it makes me queasy

Norm this was a great poem for sure.
I can remember dancing all night and changing clothes, going to work for the lure.
But you are right, back there it was marry and don't be single...now days it's live with each other and only mingle. Times do change, at 66...I'm a miss...don't mix....I'm with you..why the whirl? Peace, beautiful peace...why the squeeze.
Love this one Norm, did you finally marry at 87?
