A field of the slain
Scarlet tears wept in vain
Charred ashes
The desecration
of all held sacred
Fallacy
Mockery of mortality
Ghostly moon haunts
a sunset of crimson fire
The blasted landscape
of twisted bodies
and blood-soaked stone
Silence amidst
the dying echoes
of a great war waged
A single feather
spirals down in the aftermath
Finds earth
Death reigns
the only victor

This is rather dark, I was surprised when I read it. I can't say the subject is one of my favorites, but I have to admit it's well written and I can picture the scene in my mind. (not that I want to) You write amazing poetry, Daniel, even the dark ones. :) |
