Red rose, Red rose, look how you shine,
Belonging to Death, never to be mine.
Giving those you love only Despair,
To those you hate, disastrous Nightmare.
Your petals taunting me in my sleep,
I awake wondering why I'm not in deep.
Hope is sometimes what you are known for,
Given to lovers going to war.
Blood and Death, Carnage galore,
You are these and many more.
The lustrous color of your entirety,
Catches the eyes of those in anxiety.
Calling, leading, your kindness fleeting.
Luring unsuspecting innocents into your grasp,
Your silent voice a gentle rasp.
Unforgettable.
