The Consequence

Contributed by Cora-Windover on Tuesday, 18th November 2003 @ 09:46:43 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Prison doors are slamming tight
Iron bars and coldest night
A love so deep, a love so true
I never thought of what you'd do

I can't survive so cold a night
And love is such a painful light
So now you're gone and I'm alone
I have to face it on my own

Still I know they don't believe
That I could ever love this dream
So sweet a dream, so sweet a scream
And that was how you left the scene

The day you died, the day I cried
The day you left me for the sky
And now I see, and now I see
The only one you had was me

These prison doors are firmly closed
A sharp reminder of my home
My life, my husband need me there
And you have taught me not to care

I love you more than words can say
I can't go on and face this day
But now you're gone and I'm alone
I make decisions on my own

Tonight I judge the consequence
Of loving past my own good sense
So sweet a love, my one regret
Is leaving to my husband's bed

Tonight I die, tonight I cry
Tonight I join you in the sky
And they will see, and they will see
You've changed my life and set me FREE
