The Sky

A great swirling ocean,
Of dull, gloomy clouds.
Or a neverending stretch of blue,
With not a speck of white.
At night a pitch black velvet cloth,
Covering the world,
Alight with golden sparkling stars,
Like diamonds in the sky.
The morning brings soft pastel blues,
Maybe pinks as well.
And dusk brings smokey oranges,
Reds, purples, yellows too.
Always beautiful,
And always changing:
An unpredictable surprise
Is the beauty of the sky.
