The sun revolves around my world
And doesn't shine as bright as it used to
My world is flat and so is my lifeline
Why is stress and pain of memory all I seem to know anymore?
There are no choice words or actions within my capabilities
To revive my dying inspiration
So I continue to remind myslef that this is only a test
Another test on the lesson of trust and I have failed
Again I'm left empty inside feeling like the ghost of a stranger
Realizing the person I am is not the person I thought I was
And far from the person I want to be
But I know one day I'll walk away from it
As it all drowns in the blood of someone elses broken heart
Knowing this I carve my mistakes in these walls
In this flesh
And the scars remind me of what I've lost
So next time I can hold on to that piece of myself
The same piece I lost that day when you drove away
I'll find it again someday
And when I do I won't make the same mistakes again

It seems like the pieces never seem to fit, but that slim hope is sometimes all we have to stay afloat. Just remember that everything happens for a reason. Great expression, my friend. Glad you could share it. |
