Nine Years Ago

Today makes it nine years ago
Since the day you passed away.
I can't really remember
Things about that day.
When I try to think about it,
My thoughts are all a mess,
My memory is blurred,
That's all I will confess...
I don't know much about you,
You passed away so long ago
So I can only say now,
That I don't really know
Who you were, or where you came from.
Your past, family and identity
All remain as
A big mystery to me.
But you cannot blame me,
And say that it's my fault.
I was only four back then,
I was too ignorant back then.
I'm ignorant of my background,
And of the pain you suffered -
I just live in my own world, safe and sound.
It was nine years ago, after all,
Since the day you passed away.
