Cold Love in the Strangers Eyes

Contributed by Valerie_Pearson on Monday, 17th November 2003 @ 01:18:10 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Who is that, that I should stand a stranger in a dark room,
look on, the door is closed, and that of light is not seen,
cold is the love that fills thee air,
memories, are only time sitting in a worn bottle,
she calls in a chaplian to read his last rights,
but yet time has not come,
his path is not driving to the sound of death,
watching the ghost of shadow, I read the minds of those near to him,
dust tarred hearts casting the spirit of the room,
none have the soul or the dignity I carry,
the turn of time has frozen,
and burnt memories told with lies,
truth has not found the simple hearted,
five thousand days have past this turn of time,
I saw more than a lost roadway,
I saw those who look for fault,
but yet their own soul cannot comfort them,
two doorways, and the right one is always the hardest to find,
like gazing in a mirror at the end of day,
only to find the same person to please,
these naked hearts can show no mercy,
shadows fall and they cast a shell of fire when need be,
none have seen the true pain I carry,
nor have they witnessed the structure of this spirit,
they only hope to know,
and search to find the inner core,
never will they know,
for life has only shown them cold love,
and dirty secrets,
talking behind each other backs,
never to hear a word of praise,
only to be judged,
so I leave where the shadows fall,
and light again I see,
without it, I stand a stranger!

Such grim loneliness. Val you are going through a bad time. I see fortitude in your words but I am filled with sadness reading them
