Billy's Rocket

Billy wore leg irons from polio,
He felt restricted but was strong of heart,
He was a firm believer in physical equality.
Billy said he was building a rocket,
It was no secret, every body knew,
Everybody was eagerly awaiting the launch.
Billy had dreams to go to the moon,
He placed stickers on the window of his bedroom,
Mapping its journey across the night sky.
Billy had plans to jettison his callipers,
Once he had passed through the stratosphere,
Weight is an important factor in space you know.
Billy wants to take all his friends,
Even those who had ridiculed and mocked him,
After all they were still his friends.
Billy sent his design to Neil Armstrong at N.A.S.A.
He hadn’t heard back, so assumed all was fine,
Neil knew about this sort of thing.
Billy understood gravity and weightlessness,
So the moon was the obvious destination.
Billy says we can all walk the same on the moon.
