You and I see the world differently,
I can't explain to you why.
While you're watching things come alive,
I'm watching them wither and die.
You see the earth in watercolour,
I see it in shades of grey.
I'm seeing the dawn fade into night,
You're seeing dusk turn into day.
My accursed vision is something you can't fathom,
A thing of your animated lore.
When you see me tell my stand-still tales,
Pity we who imagine nothing more.
And when you lay yourself to sleep,
Floating through a pastel dream;
Remember we who do not know,
Dwell on how my vision to you would seem.
