A Missing Child

Contributed by Terry_Stephen_Driscoll on Friday, 14th November 2003 @ 08:23:04 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Unique
A creation
Like no other
Perfect made

A snowflake
Fresh fallen
Gently held
Still in her palm

Disappeared
Melted to a single tear
A mother will
Cry forever.

An all too disturbing subject that I would not have even considered trivialising in any artistic form but I felt different about it here. I stumbled across a ‘missing children’ link at the base of a web site I was viewing one day. As I watched various photographs of such children flashed quite rapidly within the banner showing age and location as it ran. After a few minutes it struck me that these were not repetitions, literally hundreds and hundreds of children were listed from many countries and cultures maybe thousands if I had sat there long enough. I was caught in an emotional bubble with this; torn between the thought of the children themselves (an angle I probably couldn’t have broached adequately enough in my writing) and the incomparable despair of the parents. I approached the whole thing by trying to realise the unique divinity of a child along with the equal uniqueness of a mothers love.

Amazing still how such a minuscule amount of words can make such a huge impact. Very insightful write~! Something we all need reminding of. May God be with all the missing children of the world and their parents~! And may we, that know not the true pain of the loss of a child, be reminded and thankful for what we have~!

You are a precious soul.So many would have said "sad thing that" and then just kept surfing the net.You on the other hand took it with you..acknowledging such tragedy.I pray with every sunrise and every sunset, for the safety of all Earths children.
Such a short piece, yet so ful of the purity of an innocent and the sorrow of a lost Mother.
Beautiful!!!!!
May more people take a moment and reflect on what others have lost and how others have suffered.
Bless you and yours..
Loving Whispers
