The Player

Contributed by buxxo on Friday, 14th November 2003 @ 01:33:26 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I was played for the fool for everyone to see,
Not realizing that the fool was to be me,
Drawn to the player without being wise,
Seeing only what I wanted, ignoring the signs,
Tempted by the cunningness of the players lure,
Always one step ahead of you, of that be sure,
Players only want you when they’re playing their game,
Being made the fool of is all that will remain,
For the player is deceptive to those he lures near,
His intentions are to use you without making that clear
I put my cards on the table, got the game on its way,
But when it came down to it, he changed his play,
If you think you’ve figured out the players mind set,
Playing the players game will be your biggest regret,
Players think there a friend when all is said and done,
But everyone knows the player’s a friend to no one,
You’ll put yourself out there and take a chance,
But to the player it’s an opportunity for him to advance,
After playing his game and losing all your respect,
He’s on to his next opponent without any regret,
But the player is really the loser in the end,
When he plays the wrong person, he plays a friend,
It’s hard to believe that as a friend you’ve been played,
When you’re left feeling foolish, there’s a price to be paid,
Life offers lessons that are meant to be learned,
If you play with the player, you will surely get burned,
Played as the fool, you’ll have only yourself to blame,
The lesson learned here is that you’re onto his game,
If you continue to think that the player is your friend,
When the player plays you, you’ll get hurt in the end,
The moral of this little tale of mine,
Is that the tables will turn on the player in time,
To get what he wants, he’ll lead you astray, but
What goes around, comes around will find him one day,
If ever a player should set their sights on you,
Be wise, turn your back, don’t be twice the fool,
So hear the message in these words I say,
Don’t be played by the player, just walk away,
So here as the fool before you I stand,
Because the player played me with his best hand.
