The Perfect Jester

Contributed by Sweet-Poison on Friday, 14th November 2003 @ 07:14:49 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

You hang over me,
Like a rain cloud,
Yet you are perfection,
A perfect mirror image,
Of myself, Laughing.

With your playing cards,
And puzzle boxes,
You name the game,
You make the rules,
I play along.

Round 1,
This game is my life,
You draw my cards,
Loyalty, Trust, Love,
Heartbreak, back 5 spaces,
I play along.

Round 2,
This game is my dreams,
First, You enquire,
Hope, Desire, Lust,
Failure, Back again,
I play along.

Round 3,
You hand me a puzzle,
You say it forms my dreams,
The pieces are shattered,
They slice my skin at a touch,
Back again,
I play along.

By now,
I have grown bored,
Of your games,
Of your taunting,
Yet your still here,
Grinning,
I dont want to play.

You're growing tiresome,
Of your own games,
You dont want to play,
And you leave me here,
With my shattered dreams,
And blood stained fingers.

I imagin you now,
To still be playing,
With your cards,
And puzzle boxes,
At someone elses expense,
The perfect jester.

What a unique metaphor and so well constructed.
I've written a few about the vagaries of love
but not in this form.
I was just surfing the site this morning taking the first name on the contributing list. I''ll go back and do a few more of yours.
If you want to make comparisons two of mine you might like are.....................Ah er no...........
there are a few too many........Take your pick.
Possibly "The way we were" ........ It's divided in a similar way

I liked the way you portrade a relationship; by playing a game. It's pretty cool! :)
