In him, I see a reflection of me
It’s a scary sight to see
For I know where I’ve been
And know of all my sins
I wish I could spare him
All the pain and mistakes
Life isn’t something you lose or win
It’s simply for learning’s sake
If he could learn without pain
How happy I would be
I wish that could happen
But its impossible you see
Either people don’t trust
Or they forget what they see
Repeating the past is a must
To remember and believe
I watch him grow and learn
And I’m reminded of my past
For so many things I did yearn
None of which did last
Most of my wants were trivial
For all the wrong things did I aim
Discontent and guilt did I feel
I imagine he’ll go through the same
In the end he’ll realize
As he watches his child fight
He can only empathize
And his mother was right
