it was in the winter night of 1443
I met the lady quenavere in the castle by the
sea
her father was a noble man and I was just a
squire
but the spark we felt that frigid night turned to a rageing fire
the kings hall was empty and she came around the corner
my breath inhaled to quickly as I layed my eyes upon her
and when I coughed she noticed me and asked me whats the matter
nothing said I but that thy face has torn my heart in tatters
she blushed and then she giggled and she set my soul to quaking
then she took my hand in hers to quite me from my shaking
and each night thereafter through the castle we would go
as the frigid sky outside blanketed the keep with snow
then one night walking hand in hand we found her chamber door
she blushed again as we went in and layed down on the floor
fire shadows danced a ghostly dance upon the stone
as I quietly undressed her on the blanket we had thrown
my hands carressd her body on that dreamy winters eve
if there were no tomorrow then I would never leave
the next few nights we spent apart, longed for each others touch
but I could not resist her, the temptation was to much
so that night unannouced into her room I strolled
she told me not to be there, told me I must go
just as I was asking why a man burst through the door
he piearced my breast with his sword and left me on the floor
but I gave chase because I knew he'd take my love away
but cacth them I could not and I mourn her to this day
you see it was her father, filled with rage and fire
that his only daughter could love a lowly squire
on winter nights, an old man I roam the halls again
and think about the greatest love that ever could have been
