This Fall

Contributed by olive on Thursday, 13th November 2003 @ 03:28:46 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Autumn,
it came quietly this year
when I was looking for something else
I didn't see the piles of leaves I was tromping through.
The colors of trees
in a routine metamorphosis
was second fiddle to
papers, books, loud people.
It felt to me like a beginning, maybe a start to my romantic vision of life.

But then you decided
you were ready to die.
And now I can't bury myself in silly games and shallow pursuits again.
Now every bit of nature is haunting me.
I'm watching the trees closely
And each leaf fallen
is one more that you won't see.

The memory of our loved ones stay with us forever to give us strength. I am sorry to hear of your grandmothers passing but her memory will be with you in the beautiful words you write.
