Sleep In The Fire

Traveling deeper into the forests
Ignoring the haunting echoes of the children’s voices
The stiffing of the hairs upon my neck
As a single drop of sweat trickles down my back
Slicing away, at snakes, spiders and vines
While ignoring the winds chime
Up ahead, a glowing fire
Seemingly settled at the top of some ungodly spire
Chopping my way to it’s entrance
The heat from the fire, leaving me in trance
Determined to make my lord, a liar
I refuse to sleep, as more fuel, for the spire’s fire
