Today Is Black

Contributed by J_Ganey on Saturday, 24th August 2002 @ 10:46:06 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

Living inside my mouth, telling me what to say
When he turns the lights on, he thinks it goes away
Hands cracked and dirty his nails feel as blades
He doesn’t even realize, the pain of his deeds

Go ahead, and rub my face in something free
Rub it in something “beautiful”
And wish that’s what I would be
Go ahead, and rub my face is something free
Rub it is something “beautiful”
And wish that’s what I would be

But now I have my wings,
Never even knew it
While I was your pawn
Thought I wouldn’t make it through it

Your toys all smell like ashes, of your drug of the day
Wishing I could float away
But my wings force me to stay
It looks like I’ve no choice in the matter, guess it’s me who’ll pay

As your lies, where the ones that watered me
Making me become, the strongest of weeds
I’ve shut the door to my heart, you’ve painted black
Rest assured, I’m not coming back
