The line between wakefulness and sleep is blurred,
Memory is lapsing, speech becoming slurred,
Thoughts contained inside my mind seeming quite absurd.
Clarity transcends my delusional state,
Yielding to the omnipotence of fate,
I learn to carry my own weight.
See the truth, bright upon my face,
And disregard this human race,
For seeking prizes of wealth, fame, or trace,
Of self importance shrouded in an act,
With every breath we seal the pact,
Between ourselves and this world wracked,
And burdened with a heavy mass,
Burdens which the righteous pass,
Along, reflections in the looking glass.
Mimicking gestures of charity,
Telling of superficial sympathy,
The poor have wealth beyond our scope,
The rich are destitute, without hope,
Perhaps one day the world can cope,
With concepts such as these,
To open it’s encrusted eye to see.
