When I was barely nine
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for preppy girls
And athletic sons
All the popular ones
Where all they did was fine
When I was barely nine
When I was eleven of age
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for artistic folks
And acting pros
Who knew how the world goes
Who were very sage
When I was eleven of age
When I became a teen
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for peaceful souls
And fair judged minds
Who stayed within the lines
Always in-between
When I became a teen
And now the days are long
I’m passed my prime of my years
I think of my life as fulfilled dreams
Where the dim became smart
The cruel showed some heart
And faced the worst of their fears
I’ve had some very good years

A great last line. Just stay focused on having lots more good years. Experience every one of your dreams and don't ever consider asking "I wonder if..."
It's better to be a has been than a never been at all!
