JUST PLAIN WRONG

More dead today because of a lie
And tomorrow no doubt others
But does it bring some sense
To men who’d sell their mothers?
The political animal is an ugly one
It knows two things keep it aloof
Talk tough even though you’re wrong
And care less about the truth
'Act in haste, repent at leisure'
And 'Remember Vietnam'
Are two bits of better advice
When stuck in such a jam
How long they waited - so many years
Before stemming the flow of blood
They wouldn’t LISTEN over Vietnam
And “knew better” 'till the flood
Of brave young men returning home
In body bags and worse
Fifty thousand were sacrificed
For what? A well worn curse:
“Better dead than red”
That and domino theory
And look at Vietnam now
It was egos fed that fury
The same egos that still sit on high
And act real tough and strong
HOW many dead WILL it now take?
To prove they're just plain WRONG?
