I tried to say and do the right thing.

But my actions are held up for all to see

I love her for all that life will offer
that girl with poise and her charmed delight
and now I know that I do not have her.
An angel has come and stolen her in the night,

This chain I wear is only for me to know,
and will always stifle my love words.
And this is my GREAT love song
my actions and words all seem so absurd.

It doesn't go the way love songs should
But it is all that I have left now
I guess it's gone the way that it should,
not the way I know that it could
