Would you pray for the dark-eyed child?
That one who wanders lonely streets,
And seems of spirit so tender and mild,
Yet bears a hatred for all he meets.
An innocence long since defiled.
Would you weep for this boy?
Or would you turn a blind eye?
Heart crumbled as the frailest toy,
Only breathing, he’s long since died.
A childhood he would destroy.
But once a boy, now a man;
A man who remains much the same.
Please look inside to see what you can;
A child bound by iron and chain,
Lying within the heart of this man.
Loneliness itself was his mistress,
Despair, Anger, and Hate, his harem.
But how could one such company resist,
When his existence itself is so barren?
And how could such a one desist.
Close your eyes, if you would please,
And pray for such a pathetic man.
Heed your ears to his pleas,
His heart in pieces the size of a grain of sand,
And carried away by the gentlest breeze.
A spirit remains unbroken and wild,
Until shackled and bound.
And here he shall remain reviled,
Unable to cry or make a sound.
I shall always remain the dark-eyed child.
