Burning

Like Jagged Edge I feel like I have walked right out of heaven
But unlike them I have stepped right into hell
Just the opposite of that great number seven
Ready for another sad and painful story to tell
It’s hot and there is no one to cool me off
I’m so hard and mean no longer soft
I’m burning like a black & mild
Slowly but showly is my new style
Each day that passes is like taking another puff
Wondering where will I spend my last buck
Where is the green that will give me a little luck
As my body becomes just a little bit hotter
The pain is so intense; I can’t help but to think of her
Still wondering how that horrible day change me to what you see
And how my conscience still won’t let me be
The longer I stay in this spot
The more I think about all the things I once had
How my pen used to connect from dot to dot
Now I’m like a dog with his tail between his legs feeling sad
The heat starts to increase
I feel like I’ve touched my hand in some hot grease
There is no cream to ease my pain
A feeling compared to walking without an umbrella in a heavy rain
The flames have finally made it to my head
I would rather feel the pain of lead
At least it’s faster to see my body hit the bed
But I guess a slow and agonizing pain is what I’m suppose to feel instead
This pain hurts so much; I think I’m better off being dead

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
