Who’d have thought that I’d be glad that summer’s over?
It was the worst 3 months my life has ever seen
And all the hopes I had of when it started
All fled away, and left me as a lonely teen

Now, at first it didn’t seem so much like this
I actually enjoyed the first few days
But then I got to know what everyone truly thought
And they told me to detest all your ways

‘Cause you said, “I don’t know what to do,”
“I’m in love with her, but I’m best friends with you.”
And after all the chaos and the pain you put me through
You chucked what we had away before I ever knew
I thought our bond meant more to you then some girl who would leave you cold
But evidentially I was wrong, that’s real plain to see
And so was the fortune told
The fortune told

‘Learn from your mistakes,’ I can’t agree more
‘Cause now I think I shouldn’t befriend people like you
And everyone’s telling me, you’ll sit and ponder
Of all the great things that you blew

‘Cause you said, “I don’t know what to do,”
“I’m in love with her, but I’m best friends with you.”
And after all the chaos and the pain you put me through
You chucked what we had away before I ever knew
I thought our bond meant more to you then some girl who would leave you cold
But evidentially I was wrong, that’s real plain to see
And so was the fortune told

It was so easy to stay with you
Oh yeah, that’s true
But it’s so much harder to leave you;
Leave you
I gotta leave you
Before you harm me anymore
I gotta leave you
Before my heart feels sore
I gotta leave, leave, leave
Gotta leave you
Leave you all alone
Wishing you were home
And now feel the burn of what you’ve done
I have won

Didn‘t you say, “I don’t know what to do,”?
“I’m in love with her, but I’m best friends with you.”?
Wasn’t there chaos and pain you put me through?
And didn’t you chuck what we had away before I ever knew
I guess her bond meant more to you then me, who’d never leave you cold
And evidentially I was right, that’s real plain to see
But not my fortune told
My fortune told

Summer ‘03
You turned your back on me
And now I’m alone

And it sucks
