Life's Mold

Contributed by LJ on Saturday, 24th August 2002 @ 07:28:56 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Growing up Getting old
Hanging on to what is called life’s mold

Letting go is so hard to do
Sometimes it makes one feel more blue

Therefore, you stockpile your hurt
In the bottom of your soul like a pile of dirt

Starting small you don’t realize
Until you begin to hear the cries

Cries from your heart
That is the start

Cries from your friend
They thought it was just a trend

It takes many shapes and sizes
Over your life it slowly guises

Contact can make it spread
Your friends begin to dread

It has taken a hold
Your life’s mold

Starting as a speck
The beginning of your train wreck

Ignoring doesn’t make it go away
That makes it want to stay

Hiding deep in your soul
That is its one goal

Cleaning it out is no fun
It is easier to run

Digging up the past
Forever it seems to last

Knowing this is what you need
Slowly your heart begins to heed

Going back to when life was cold
Rooting out life’s mold

Maybe it will take months, maybe years
Letting out all the hidden tears

It is gone, but now you fear
Around the corner it does peer

How do you avoid getting this mold
Onto life’s hurts do not hold
