I wish that right now
My head lay on your chest,
And you were singing me to sleep
To get me to rest.
So maybe my dreams
Wouldn't be so far away,
And you could hold me
Until the dawn of the next day.
I wish you were here
So I could tell you the stories of the day,
And you could tell me not to worry,
That it'd all work out ok.
Then you could take me in your arms
And kiss away the pain,
I have the memories,
But it isn't the same.
I wish you could hold me,
Now, while I cry,
And then maybe I wouldn't hurt so much,
These wounds wouldn't be all mine.
I wish I could lay my head
Down on your chest,
Let you comb your fingers through my hair,
And finally, get some rest.
