Terror gripping the heart
As you gaze around the parking lot.
Dimly lit, cars all around,
Keys out, Ready to get to town,
Shadows lurch from the corners and move,
Your feet pick up pace as the shadows prove
To have a form: human? animal? spirit?
Trying to calm down, Singing a lyric
Or two of your favorite song...
You don't remember the walk to the car being this long,
Gravels crunch and echo in the night,
It doesn't matter that there's nothing there as you take flight,
Running desperately, fighting off air,
Heart pumping, terror bare
On your face.
Thoughts gradually picking up pace....
Then laughing quietly to yourself as you slow down,
Need to stop reading horror books... nothing happens in this town...
Relaxing quickly, nothing in site,
Strolling to your car, made it just fine.
Check everything around you, it looks just fine to your eyes....
And then a gravelly voice in your ear says... Surprise....

That scared me out of my skin, but you have to be good to do that!
What a marvelous imagination you have, it matches mine, so when you get involved, so do I, but I don't know the ending.....but yours was really scary. Really enjoyed it. Do you read alot of Stephen King?
Warm scary poetic love,
