THE MARSH

A silent flutter
of wings
signals the start
of another dawn.
A loon
far off
voices its eagerness
to face today's morning.
The sky
softened now
with surreal colours
of chilled gold.
Fog swirls
in an
ancient dance
dressed in funeral grey.
Somewhere close
a puddle
of silver rings
widen on black water.
The early
breeze stirs
restless and willing
with the promise of October.

Nice imagery.......Truthfully I was expecting an dark or dreary poem based on the title...c'mon!...marsh????...it is not usually a place of niceness. However you have really captured the beauty of the marshland and depicted it in a rather effective and powerful manner. |

I disagree with the comment above. The wetland are a wonderful place to witness the beauty of nature as well as making a great subject for poetry. Nice imagery and well written.
