Thats why my mother cries

Contributed by irshprnss on Sunday, 2nd November 2003 @ 01:58:23 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Each morning when I wake up and see the morning sun
till the second the day has ended and sleep has begun
I often hear a muffle, some would say a cry
I don't know where it comes from and I don't understand why
I hear it when I'm sleeping, and when I'm awake
I hear it with Cartoons on, with every breath I take
I can't run from it theres nowhere I can hide
Not anywhere known too man, believe me I have tried
I often ask my mommy about the sound that never ends
But she never gives an answer she just remembers when......
Then one day I found it, The sound that I did hear
It wasn't what I thought it, but most what I had feared
It was mommy thinking to herself about what the worlds become
It was mommy thinking how can she protect us? She is only one

Hmm... the end of innocence perhaps...how a child learns about the harsh realities of life. A difficult time for the child but a necessary rite of passage nevertheless. Quite an ok poem and topic. You might want to either tighten up the rhythm within the lines though...or break them up into shorter lines. Right now they are rather a mouthful and there are some disparities in the rhythm of the first part and the second part of some of the lines. They don't sound quite balanced....well anyway that is just an opinion...I am partial to tight lines and blanced rhytm myself...maybe youy are those freeform-type people....to each.... his or her own...I guess.
