Ghostly Past

Contributed by Schnikes13 on Thursday, 30th October 2003 @ 09:06:07 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I always thought I knew
That life was fair
But then so many people told me
It wasn’t even close to there

A blissful being
Had made my fate
But as she grew,
That soul would regulate
She started fading
Far away
Like a ghostly past
Was leaving me

I adore you, my guide
And I never loathed you
But I can’t seem to find a way
For me to rely on you
And you can’t say I never tried
For me to believe you
But I adore you, my guide
And I even cherished you

I wandered in front of the crowd,
So juvenile and constantly
I spent my whole life being blinded
So that I wouldn’t have to see

Some girl and boy welcomed me
They helped me alone vitally
But then I lost sight of who they were
And I didn’t know if I could be sure

But I adore you, little sis and little brother
And just remember, I’ll always need you
And I only wanted for you to say
“We’ll always want you”
And I pray there comes a day
When I won’t need you
But for now,
I adore you little sis and little brother

The very few I regarded
Closest to me
Turned all their backs
And left me out alone to bleed
Although everything
Was eating away at me
They left me there to die
And thought it would have to be

And I was afraid of life
But I was redeemed
And I got the strength to leave
And the light then beamed
And I know no one believed it
But it wasn’t just seemed
But I’m now fearless of life
And of you

When I found the strength
To break away
You all began to flee
I thought it was something I had done
But found out,
It’s because you loved me
