Years Gone By*

Contributed by Glo on Thursday, 30th October 2003 @ 01:17:27 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

Today as I sit and watch the children play..........
It takes me back to years gone by,
When I'd seen better days.

For I can recall the times when I would lie on the grass,
Just watching the Ants go by......
Working, working all day long, without even a sigh.

I would play Hop Scotch, Jump Rope, Tag..........
Sometimes Cowboy and Indians too.
Some days I would sit under my Big Willow Tree,
To serve Tea and Cookies for myself and my Teddy Bear Boo.

Then some days my friends and I would play Hide and Seek.
We had to count from one to twenty............
Making certain not to peek.

But the best part of the day was to sit and watch the setting Sun.
Then we would all run and get our jars...........
To catch Fire Flies one by one.

Those were some of the happiest times for me,
Although the years have passed me by,
My hair grows white.......you see.

The years have come and gone for him too,
Even though like me, he's not so new.
I still go and sit under my Big Willow Tree.

Yes to this very day,
I serve Tea and Cookies........
To my Teddy Bear Boo and me.

Remembering When!

~Gloria E. (c) 11-September-2000

Glo..this is just precious..You took me with you..What a wonderful journey back through time..Thank you..lovely memories you have and a beautiful way of sharing them with us all.

Now..let me respond to the comment about your first line of your comment on my poem about TRUTH.
It was not having a go at other critics in a harmful way.And even if she was,its a passion that drives such a person.Passion from the heart for the ones who suffer and frustration at the ones who cannot see it...Glo was merely stating facts. And If I am not bothered by the comments, why should you be?Everyone has a right to an opinion and Glo said her piece without malice. She was stating the truth. Some people refuse the truth, either out of fear,or refusal to see. Some even because they are brought up with narrow minded parents.PLEASE dont take this the wrong way..beg pardon but you do seem to have a way of doing that .I wish you well..but lighten up..we are family here.
