I Loved You

I loved you when you said
“You have my heart”
I loved you when I thought
We would never part

I loved you when you said
I’m who you want to choose
I loved you when I thought
I would never lose

I loved you when you said
“You already have me”
I love you when you said
You knew we’re meant to be

I loved you when you said
“You have nothing to be afraid of”
I loved you when I knew
You were afraid of my love

I loved you when you said
“I love you”
I loved you the next day
When my heart split in two

I loved you when you said
“It’s just you”
I love you even now
That I know it wasn’t true

I loved you even then
When you looked me in the eye
I love you even though
It was only to tell me a lie

I love you because
I can see the true you
I love you even thought
You won’t let the true you through

I loved you because
You took my fears away
I still loved you as you
Replaced them, one by one, each day

I loved you through everything
All the good and the bad
I still love you, right now
For the bad times, are among the best I’ve had

I loved you with
Each tear falling from my eyes
I love you now that I ask
Was it all based on lies?

I loved your beautiful smile
With it’s everlasting glow
I loved you when you turned your back,
Built a dam to stop the flow

I loved you when you told me
Not to give up on you
I love you, though I wonder,
Did you tell him that too?

I loved you when
I felt like your friend
I love you even now
That you put our friendship to an end

I loved you before we met
I love you because you’re my sun
And I love you still, this day
For deep in my heart, I know, I’ve lost the one

And years and years from now
On the day that I must die
With my last breath I’ll say I love you
You’ll see the love behind my dieing eyes

There is only one person that I've EVER felt that way about... and regretfully he is now only a friend, and it's torture to watch him right beside me talking about his latest love... and it's even worse because he doesn't realize that it kills me on the inside... this poem echoes my sentiments... exactly!
