The sun still shines brightly
As the sounds ring through the air
Lives awake to the new born day
While the night fades away in its glare
“A regular day, just like the others,”
Murmured young “Malrax the grand”
The fox’s lithe ears twitched and shot up
Dancing about, eager to play
Cradled in nature’s soft hands
He trampled the grasses,
And nibbled the fruits
Frolicking freely; digging up roots
Life was his apple, the choices were his
The green of the emerald,
An abundance within
Too subtle the hints for his naïve young eyes
The trap was well hidden; its jaws opened, wide
“Night symbols sleep,” as the young one got weary
Settling for rest, he’d run out of daring
The sharp pain evoked a cry so great
His foot was now lost; it could not wait
Stumbling and tripping, the plants of the day
Faded in darkness, great foes they became.
Each step brought more torment
—But he had to walk on—
As the cold moon rose higher
Its young will was gone
Taken and lost
To nature’s fond hands
The fox of the wild
“Malrax the grand”
And the sun—still—shines brightly
As the sounds—
ring through the air
Life awakens to the new born day
—And the past is no longer there—
