My Candle Still Burns

I can't busy my mind enough
as I drift about
To notice not that which my heart
Like falling snow is crying out
Feelings I hold shrouded
in an unknown abyss
Tormented by the mental suffering
I myself create on days like this
Wanting to radiate
as a flame into the night
Only to again be aware of my emotions
Burning with greediness
to swell my appetite
Selfishly I long to indulge in the warm torch
Sending impulses of heat thru and thru
But with the night brings also darkness
Putting out the flicker 'fore the morning dew
On and on the tempest passes, so regularly,
Trying to wash out the glow of us
Steadfast we endure this blackout
of dependence we feel but cannot yet discuss.
