Like a precious gift, we brought you home,
Into the place, you'll learn to roam.
Bundled tight, and with sleepy eyes,
From the hospital, we cut our ties.
Into the driveway, and up the stairs,
From now on, you're our only care.
Your room is all cozy, and the bed is just right,
Waiting for you to spend your very first night.
This bright new world is yours to see,
The apple of our eye, you're sure to be.
We'll tell you stories, with sing-a-longs,
And hope we don't get them wrong.
Oh what sunshine you'll bring our way,
And we'll love you more each single day.
Soon other kids will ask you outside to play,
And we'll be wishing to have back these very first days.
