Mornings first piercing sunlight
Dripped through the forlorn valley.
The night becoming a distant memory
As the sun reclaimed ascendancy.
Eagles sour through the amber sky
Oceanic armies awaken with routine below.
Natural beauty, unspoiled and unscathed
Stretching for acres around them.
Nature is the sovereign over these lands,
Autonomous in its own right,
A perfect balance; equilibrium.
Though, tipped the scales have become.
-----
‘Smog’ descends over towers of steel and stone,
Looming ominously over heaving streets.
A ubiquitous grey monotone swarms the city
Devouring the concrete blocks it meets.
Soldiers in suits battle the clock,
Struggling to amass materialistic ambitions.
Survival is undermined by greed,
Egocentricity, aspiration.
Many believe the world has a sickness,
They call it the disease of humankind.
We infest and deteriorate the terrain around,
We pollute the earth and scar the skies.
No longer will the eagle soar in a crystal blue sky
Nautical life will choke in a polluted ocean.
Must we wait for this to happen
Before forming a solution?
