DICKY WILSON

Contributed by lovingcritters on Sunday, 19th October 2003 @ 11:56:29 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I was 3 or maybe 4......
All I heard was "World War!"
It was killing someone, somewhere?
Dropping bombs over there!

Everybody was scared,
I could tell.....
"Eat all your Oatmeal,
Little kids are starving everywhere!"
What does that mean?
I knew it was sad and bad!

My Daddy needs tires
for his big "Egg Truck!"
Not enough stamps are left
in his radishing book?
I didn't have anybody around
to be my friend,
So I took off and started to look,
down my alley all the way to the end.

"Don't go across that Street!' I heard in my head, but my heart saw
the white house over there,
A friend I'd like to meet.
"Hi, What's your name little boy?"
"My name is Dicky."
Then I said, "Dicky what?"
And he said, "Wilson."
"My name is Connie."
'I'd tell you my other name, Dicky,
but it's too hard!"
"It's sorta like ZONITKIDZER!"
"Can you play with me Dicky?"
Dicky said, "No, I can't go across that street!"
Then I said, "Oh, that's easy, I'll show you how,
just give me your hand Dicky!"

I took Dicky the easy way.
Over my "ash-pit",
and there we would sit.
I had a new friend,
His name was Dicky Wilson.
He didn't talk much,
but Dicky did everything I
wanted him to do.
He was my friend, and that's true!
Don't you dare tell him "Lies!"
I don't know what "lies" mean,
But it's bad, you never ever better do!

"Dicky, would you like to make "Mud Pies?"
Then Dicky said, "What are "Mud Pies?"
"Take my hand, Dicky, I'll show you!"
"I promise Dicky, to you
I'll never do those lies!"

"Get lots of dirt Dicky,
and put it in this dish.
I'll get some water from the hose,
if it's not too hard to turn it.
I'll make a wish, cross your heart....
Dicky bring me the dish!"

Then you just stir it up Dicky,
Isn't this lots of fun?
Like I said before, Dicky never talked much,
He always looked like he would like to run!
(and now that Dicky is grown, I'll bet he wishes
that he had run from me!) You'll see......
"See Dicky, after you stir 'em up then you just
spread them all over this rock.....
and just let them bake in sun!"

"Would you like to put some more
stuff in them Dicky?
Take my hand, I'll show you again.
See those little balls on the grass?
Don't step on them after a rain.
My Daddy told me these are shot
from a Sheep's ass!
Do you know what that is Dicky?
I don't either, but I know they taste like grass.
Here Dicky, try one, they're not
like gum, because they don't last!"
Dicky said, "They taste like grass."
I said, "We can use them for raisins Dicky.
Mud pies with raisins, just for me and you!"

(to be continued in Part Two)
WE USED RADISHED SUGAR FOR OUR MUD PIES TOO!

This poem has touched me...
------------------------------------------
I always said, we're easily led,
we simple men, who women bed,
Leave us be, we'd lead a life,
of truth and honor, without a wife...
