Burdened Paths

Carried upon broken backs
Traveling down unwanted paths
A burden carried sadly
Long after the object of its affection
Has drifted away upon the wind
Time diminishes the burden
Lightning the lode through the passing days
The burden always remains though
For it can never truly pass away
Burdens are added many times in life
But truly only once
So as you travel down your paths
Watch out and be wary
Not so much that you never take a chance
but enough not to confuse apples and oranges
The rewards for the right chance
Are well worth the timely efforts
And may stay with you
Until you reach your destination
