Pretty bird
stood alone in a cage
looked quite indignant
stock-still with rage.
Pretty bird
held the spectators' stare
attention focused
on external fair.
Pretty bird
dodged tiny hands
that reached in and breached
his world in demand.
Pretty bird
his patientce ran out
through miniature feet
that blocked the free route.
Pretty bird
determined to fly
frenzied the children
as he swiftly raced by.
Pretty bird
stopped dead in his tracks
caught underfoot
he never went back.
