I'm not the star you think I am
not the part I play,
not the moon-eyed girl you saw
in dreams of yesterday.
You're the meteor I didn't know
removed the scars of me.
Shooting through the blackened sky
from earth your trail I see.
Your path is soaring much too high
far away from here,
to see my lonesome watching
through my telescope of fear.
