I'll Not Be Witness

Where once I walked with ease, arm in arm with all my dreams
Now I tread with loving fear,a product of my hurt it seems
I watch you as you speak, words flow from deep within
The sadness paints its portrait,my heart has known your sin
Belief and trust seem withered, not quite knowing how to be
I toss and turn with darkness, sleeping with the memory
Im not blind to your sincerity,I see more than you show
But time is all thats left for me,and of fear I can't let go
All I can do is stand here,as you dance your heart around
I'm lost in all the pain of the past, lost smiles can't be found
Patience must be ridden, please respect my time of fear
And know that if you play me out,I'll not be witness to another tear
For you have taken what little I had, after I gave until near dead
I could have given up on life, but I chose to breathe instead
Today I stand much stronger, not of heart but of sheer will
Because I remember all you did,in dreams it haunts me still
No.I'll not be witness to another fallen tear
I will not let your love be something I should fear
I will walk away before another teardrop falls
Because I'll not sit with pain, witnessing anything like before

Oh yes, this poem is excellent. I can relate to this - the whole walking away and not sheding another tear - I can relate to that so much. I loved this poem, thank you so much for sharing.

It's hard to comment on this ... as I can't bear to read the words you write, although beautifully written, leave me feeling very, very sad ... Jan |

This is so very sad but hauntingly beautiful..."Today I stand much stronger not of heart but of sheer will" I have been there
