Mailbox Waste

Contributed by norm on Sunday, 12th October 2003 @ 09:50:00 AM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

When I was a kid they had a thing
A grab bag which was on a string,
You reached inside to see the dole,
A Mary Jane and a Tootsie Roll.

I have the feel I used to see,
I go to the mailbox with my key,
I get in front, I can hardly wait,
Do I get some checks or bills I hate.

Advertisements for some ugly pets,
A big pink handsome doll that wets,
Come on in to see our cars,
Just for that, get candy bars.

I know not you or how you feel,
Tho you may want a Christmas seal,
You may want a 'know not what',
You may want a Hottentot.

I for one can't waste my time,
I have to figure out a perfect rhyme,
For don't you see, a poet me,
I write stuff for Y.P.D.C.

And don't you forget, you write Great Stuff for YPDC,
But don't forget the tree......only God can make a tree Norm.....a tree?
Well, you see, all the paper that those ads use, are beautiful trees, cut for refuse...so please read a few or maybe two....in memory of the tree it could have been.
Then you will have done your part, and committed no sin!
Very good poetry, Norm....don't think I could have done better...but I'll keep trying!
