do poets ever sleep?
how can they with the
hours they keep?

poets are sensitive
writing about hard lives lived,
still forever they give,

we get torn apart
what to do?
write from our hearts,

pondering on sources
of inspiration,
poet's pen knows no hesitation,

we write from the soul, are extolled
but who's taking a poll?

you never quite know
what a poet will find,
we are the history of mankind,

poets will always be
right there, because we care,

regular people go to bed,
whilst poets have all these thoughts
unsaid in their heads,

something keeping us up at night
yet to it poets ever hold tight!
we sit and smile amused...
our muse!

dear poet friends
poetry readers too,
hugs n' love to you

Nessa this is great - you captured the spirit we all share - a bit tormented, night owls, and always our hearts open to life and all it brings our way

night owls we are
poets we be
under the velvet stars
we write what we see
shut-eye to steal
crash here and there
we say what we feel
we write what we care

Dear Nessa,
This is just grand!
I can hardly stand
not to read it again and again....
My friends think I'm silly because a night owl I am...but in the 'hushed' hours of the wee morn....is when most of my poems are born!
I'm so glad you told us this, I've lately forlorn,
wondering why sleep won't come....til in early morn!
Wonderful Poem
I just loved it!

For she is the poet, up all night
With visions pictured of alright
Now the sun is up, i sleep no more
Only hear my partners snore
Should i wake her, please hear my plight
Now my visions come to light
To hear those critters all outdoor
My feet alone now hit the floor.

You never fail
----------------------------------
A full night's sleep, you can keep,
From twelve to six is when to fix
That's the time to make a rhyme,
You get all fired, when you're tired...
