Club Initiation

Contributed by jaeann on Tuesday, 7th October 2003 @ 09:51:02 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

The floor dropped
and the sky fell
the sun turned dark
my life became hell.

The phone rang
and the door slammed
the curtain closed
now life's a sham.

The hurried rush
to get to no where
the lying smiles
life's mask of care.

The fear astounds
the loss so steep
with malice-filled words
life uttered pain so deep.

The walk of silence
only the click of heels
thoughts of regret
look what life steals.

The heartbreaking mantra
of "bring her back to me"
all I wanted then
was life to return my baby.

The look of finality
runs every quest now
and endless array
of life's questions "how?"

In just one instant
it gets stolen away
no more requests to grant
life's spirit can't stay.

The trail of tears
come and then go
the object of grief
to make life a "to and fro"

Closer to the darkness
with each passing year
a struggle to breath
life's hassle so dear.

With thirteen so far gone
longer than you were to be
I still hear your little voice
asking life's questions of me.

Like "how ya doin' Mama?"
"I'm bored a little today!"
"Can I have some new scenery Mama?"
and "why did life make me this way?"

The years change the memories
some vague and others so clear
the only that aches my soul
is your life is no longer here.

To hear your voice again
I'd give a thousand days
no more thoughts to wander
the smell, the laughter, life took it all away.

My purpose lost
no matter how I try
ne'er a soul understands
it all erased with your last sigh.
