Do You Remember Me?

I remember when the leaves turned brown
Holding hands while running down
To the creek to spend the day
Happy like little children at play
Innocence was ours, and so was love
As the sun smiled sweetly from above
I remember when I had to leave
And how we kissed and how you grieved
And that was it-I went to war
With the others who had joined the corps
And we fought-and we fought well
But none could escape that living hell
I remember your face when we said goodbye
But do you remember me, my love, now that I’ve died?
