Sept. 11, 01( revisited)
“Did you hear?” I asked, “What’s that?”
“Listen up man, we’re under attack!”
I just smiled, another rumor started.
Just needed to quell, for this one “smarted”.
Into my trade, I continued to ply.
Never thought to ask, “who or why?”
Throughout the morn. The rumor rushed on.
But during lunch, I listen to song.
Radios don’t “crackle”, not any more,
So immediately I listened, to all the horror.
Not one but two, brought the “Centers” down.
Then another jet crashed, in our country’s home town.
The passengers took over, in that Pennslvania field,
My pride went to them, They refused to yield.
This grown man cried, went to his knees.
A prayer was said, for the “Land of the Free”.
That night I rushed home, lit the T. V. screen,
What I saw, made me turn green.
What I heard, gave me a maddening rush.
When they mentioned heroes, my mind fell hushed.
The firemen, police, all who rushed in,
To aid survivors, to help them tend.
The buildings crashed down, crushing all who lived
The ache rushed forth, with all I could give.
Two years have passed, under the bridge of life.
It has taken this long, for me to write.
Thousands have been started, but none complete,
And this one may not show, this opinion’s grief.
To all the ones who perished, to you I pray,
May I shake your hand, some Glorious Day?

I have reada lot of tributes to sept 11th and though they have all been very moving,I really like this .I have never read a more proud line for this tragedy than" To all the ones who perished, to you I pray,
May I shake your hand, some Glorious Day?"
Now this is showing respect!!! Again ..thank you. |

This gave me goose bumps. I was reading a magazine article the other day about 9/11. It was about a blind man and his guide dog trying to get out of the tower. By the end of the article, I was in tears. Sept 11th and all it entails will always have the power to close up my throat, bring me to tears and bring me to my knees.
Thank you for writing this.
