You watch through the window,
Your little girl at play.
Memories flood back to your childhood,
Back to your yesterdays.
You tuck your baby into bed,
And kiss her precious face,
You whisper a silent prayer,
“please keep my child safe.”
As the days turn months into years,
You watch your little girl grow.
You realize that sometime soon,
The time you must let go.
You hear a gentle voice say,
“No greater love is this,
What you’ve done for your little girl,
Go seal it with a kiss.”
Now she’s gone into “the big bad world,”
And forever is your wish.
There had been one more good-bye.
And sealed it with a kiss.
From Shawna to her Mother.
