She sang in all the honky-tonks.
Of Reba and Patsy Cline.
She walked the streets of Nashville,
For she seldom had a dime.
She worked at day, a waitress,
By night she played the stands,
She thought things could’ve been different,
If she’d only had a band.
She sang the songs of Tammy.
She knew “Your cheating Heart”
She sang of lovers feelings,
Tho they were miles apart.
She knew the songs from Faith,
She hummed those of Gill’s.
She sang her daddy’s favorite,
Bill Anderson’s Classic, “Still”.
She compared herself to the angels,
That God would never make,,
Her voice sounded lovely,
She knew when love was at stake.
It may have been all for naught,
In God’s greater scheme,
She knew that nothing
Would ever be lost,
For she never lost her dream.
