Mitakuye Oyasin

Contributed by LovingWhispers on Sunday, 28th September 2003 @ 05:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

Dance a new dream, see with eyes of warm colours
Immerse your soul in natures song
Love all your worldly sisters and brothers

In your happiness of self,do not forget the sorrow
Of many who still hope and wish
For a better tomorrow

Take them into your daily prayer,a thought for young and old
Hold close the thoughts, within your heart
Hear their stories told

Old man by the dust bin, clothes of rags and rope
All he needs is a thoughtful ear
Some understanding,lend some hope

Easy are the footsteps,to walk and turn the eyes
But hope you are never the old man
Who from the dust bin, lives his life

See not the aging skin, nor the smell of bathless days
Take this man and offer him
A gentle caring way

And of the one whose colour, does not match your own
Smile..for they're your kindred
And this earth is everybodys home

What a special gift you have my friend...
Out of so much sadness comes beauty...rare indeed! That's why survivors survive you see.....they think of others and forget ME

This is so beautiful and so honest and true. If only more people could think this way then the world would be a much better place. I loved this poem.

Now how didn't I think of that?

What a wonderful thought for you to sing
In many people's heads it makes the bell ring
When they see a dust bin man on the street
Turn aroud their eyes, and never greet.

I turn them too, I do confess
'Cause I'm ashamed of myself, I guess
Ashamed of this world who lost his noblesse
Losing its own sanity in exchange of progress.
